English Short Stories brings together brief narratives presented in English alongside Persian translations, allowing readers to follow each episode in two languages. The collection moves between comic surprises and reflections on choices, effort, and the way people understand their circumstances. In Captain & Fisherman, a ship captain hires a local fisherman who claims to know the coast. His confidence becomes questionable when the vessel strikes a rock. Another comic episode follows Harry after he runs a red light and collides with an older driver's car. A bottle of whisky changes the mood of their encounter, while Harry's final remark gives the story its twist. In a separate tale, Harry asks a shoemaker to accommodate his differently sized feet but complains about the result in an unexpected way. Other stories take a more thoughtful direction. Destiny describes a Japanese general who uses a coin toss to strengthen his soldiers' confidence before battle. The Butterfly & the Cocoon shows how a man's attempt to help a struggling butterfly prevents it from flying, linking difficulty with development. Do You Know Who I Am follows a student who devises a clever response when a professor refuses his late examination paper. The Purpose of Life considers an exhausted horseman pursuing land and uses his journey to question excessive ambition. Together, the English texts and Persian renderings invite readers to compare expressions while considering humor, persistence, priorities, and the consequences of decisions.
